Raw Milk / Herd Shares in West Virginia
A herd shares bill passed the legislature during the 2015 legislative session. Dubbed SB-30, the history of the bill may be found here and the text of the bill itself is here. Unfortunately the governor vetoed this bill, preventing it from becoming law. During the 2016 session the legislature tried again. This time they succeeded and the governor signed into law SB-387. The history of SB-387 may be found here and the text of the bill itself is here. So as of June, 2016, herd shares are legal in WV.

Obviously I am a huge fan of raw milk. I think it's healthier, more nutritious, and tastes a million times better than pasteurized milk. Not everyone thinks that way. There are people who are against raw milk, and there are those who just don't know much about it one way or the other. If you are new to raw milk or even opposed to it, this article series is the one to read. It's very well researched, relatively unbiased, short, and written in layman's terms so it's easy to understand. Even if you are already a proponent of raw milk, I highly recommend you read this series.
